The Information Center Recognized at National AIRS (Alliance of Information and Referral Systems) Conference at the Hyatt Regency, Dearborn
 

Taylor, MI. (June 9, 2011) -- The Information Center in Taylor was recognized at the national conference of the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) at their annual meeting on Wednesday, June 8th for receiving their second accreditation from AIRS. The conference was held at the Dearborn, Hyatt Regency Sunday June 5th through Wednesday, June 8th.

In Michigan, eleven organizations have received AIRS accreditation. The Information Center was the first in Michigan to receive AIRS accreditation in 2003, and once again was the first in the state to be re-accredited. Laureen Brennan-Haener, The Information Center's Information Systems Supervisor accepted the award with Edward D'Angelo and other staff present. AIRS accreditation is awarded based upon adherence to the highest standards of the information and referral service industry.

The Information Center was also highlighted in a video presented by the Michigan Chapter of AIRS shown at the opening breakfast Monday, June 6th. Jessica Sebaly of Trenton was featured discussing a couple she was able to assist acquire clothing for successful job interviews in her capacity as an Information and Referral Specialist at the Information Center.

Edward D'Angelo, Executive Director, who is also a member of the Michigan Chapter AIRS Board of Directors was also featured in the video commenting; "For our country and state this is a time of change.  There is a public dialogue taking place about our social policies and about the social programs and supports that should be available to help people.  Information and referral systems know the resources that are available to help community residents at any given time, and are dedicated to being effective at connecting people with services that can help them."

The annual conference of AIRS was attended by approximately 600 people from across the United States, Canada, and other countries. The 2011 AIRS national conference was hosted by Michigan AIRS.
