Employee Assistance Program
"I have a 12-year-old son. He is causing me a lot of concerns lately. He is refusing to go to school. When he does go, I hear from the school about the trouble he's causing there, disrupting classes and picking fights. My boss is getting angry that I have to leave work so often in order to troubleshoot. He's even told me if the time off work doesn't improve in the next month, I may lose my job. I can't afford that..." – Employee "I operate a small business in the area. Finding and keeping good employees is important to me and I know benefits help to keep workers that I've already trained. I want to help my employees with their life problems, but can't afford to hire a full-time human resources assistant. And, bottom-line, I need them on the job..." – Employer
Helping to manage personal and professional challenges and stay productive at the worksite is what Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is all about. Employers find that for a small investment, EAP actually saves them money. Nationally, studies show that businesses of all sizes and types average a $4 return for each dollar invested in EAP. Why?
How Employee Assistance Programs Works The Information Center's EAP is a short-term intervention service utilizing Masters level counselors trained in the clinical assessment of a wide variety of personal problems. Employee issues are assessed and the employee is guided to identify the obstacles preventing resolution. They are coached to determine the necessary actions needed to overcome those obstacles and given the support needed to take action. In The Information Center's EAP, nine out of 10 clients successfully resolve their issues without referrals to resources requiring the use of costly health care benefits. That results in a savings to the employer.
The Information Center includes a wide variety of services. As an employer, you can tailor your EAP to fit your needs, selecting among a menu of services ranging from unlimited telephone consultation, to in-person counseling services, to critical incident stress debriefings, to management consultation. The choices are up to you.
